12 Free Tools Every Entrepreneur Should Use

Tool # 1: Zoom

One of the tools I really love using to expand my business online and to stay in touch with my clients/customers is called Zoom.  Zoom is a popular video conferencing platform/app that I have been using for a few years.  It has many functionalities ~ for example, you can start meetings (and webinars in its paid version), share slides, do recordings, and it is super easy to use.  Love it!

Tool # 2: WordPress.org

If you are starting a blog or a website, WordPress.org is the platform I highly recommend.  WordPress.org is an open source software you can use to create beautiful websites and blogs for FREE. This website (Millieleung.com) is created on WordPress.org! You will need to have your own domain name and web hosting, but you will have 100% control of your website.  Plus, there are many FREE themes and plugins available with WordPress.org too, so you can easily customize your websites or blogs the way you want them.

Important Note: Do NOT confuse WordPress.org with WordPress.com!  WordPress.com is created by the same co-founder of WordPress.org (hence, its similar name) but it is a hosting service.  The free version of WordPress.com only has 3GB space (after which you will have to pay to upgrade).  Plus, you will NOT be allowed to place any ads on your websites which limits your potential of earning incomes.  You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org and WordPress.com HERE.  In short, do NOT use WordPress.com, go with WordPress.org instead.

Tool # 3: Dropbox

Dropbox is a popular file hosting service which allows you to store and share files online easily with anyone from anywhere.  I have been using it for years and it is super convenient.  Its FREE version will give you up to 2GB storage (after which you can upgrade to its paid version as needed).

Tool # 4: Google Analytics

If you have your own websites or blogs, you need Google Analytics!  This powerful, FREE tool helps you to understand who your website visitors really are, where they are coming from, what they like about your content, what is turning them off, when they are visiting your site, and how you can optimize your website to attract more ideal visitors, and increase your engagements and conversions.  A must have FREE tool for any bloggers or online business owners!

Tool # 5: Hootsuite

In today‘s business world, your social media presence is important.  Hootsuite is an online platform I have been using for years.  It can be used to effectively manage and schedule all your social media accounts, from Facebook to LinkedIn to Twitter to Google+, all in one place.  This FREE tool will make sure you never miss a message from potential customers as well as provide insights into what type of posts resonate most with your target audience.

Tool # 6: Canva

I LOVE Canva!  This is my # 1 go-to tool for all my design needs.  This FREE tool helps you to design beautiful graphics with simple drag-and-drop features.  My favorite part of Canva?  It comes with many beautiful templates!  So whether you are designing a social media graphic, newsletter, flyer, infographic, logo, business card, gift certificate or book cover, you will be able to find a beautiful and suitable template which you can easily modify into your own work.  This is definitely a FREE tool every woman entrepreneur should use!

Tool # 7: PayPal

PayPal helps you to pay, send money and accept payments securely online.  It is a simple and convenient tool to use if you are accepting payments for your business.  If you are running an e-Commerce site such as WooCommerce or Shopify, PayPal can also easily be integrated. There is no setup fee or monthly fees, but it does charge a small fee based on how much you sell.

Tool # 8: Pixabay

Sometimes you will need copyright free images for your content, and Pixabay is my favorite FREE tool for that.

Pixabay is an amazing online platform that provides more than 1.6 million stunning copyright free images and videos.  I have been using it for years and I totally love it!  Go visit the site and I am sure you will find amazing images and videos for what you need too.

Tool # 9: CamScanner

You can turn your phone and tablet into a scanner easily with CamScanner!  Another amazing FREE tool I have been using for years.

Just use your phone or tablet to take a picture of the document you want to scan, and voila! CamScanner turns it into a file you can share. You can even adjust or enhance your image quality easily so your document will look nice and clear.

Tool # 10: Yoast SEO Plugin

If you have a blog or a website on WordPress, then you NEED Yoast SEO Plugin!  This amazing FREE tool can make a HUGE difference to your traffic.  Yoast SEO Plugin helps you to get more visitors from Google and Bing, attract more visitors from social media, and increase your readers‘ engagement.

This is a tool I wish I knew earlier.  Because when I finally learned about it and installed it on my WordPress, OMG, what a difference it made!  The traffic on my website increased 50% in just 2 weeks!  And I also saw an increase on my readers‘ engagement too.  Seriously, this is a FREE tool every online entrepreneur should use! Get it now and see the difference it will make.

Tool # 11: SurveyMonkey

Want to know what your customers and audience really think?  Then SurveyMonkey may be able to help!

SurveyMonkey is a FREE tool for you to create online surveys so you can ask your customers and audience what they really think and get powerful insights that can drive your business growth.  It is easy to use and is one of the most popular online survey tools around.

Tool # 12: Evernote

Evernote is a FREE tool I have recently started using and I am loving it!  To be honest, when I first heard about this tool, I didn‘t think I needed it because I am a fairly organized person.  But hey, since it is a FREE tool that is recommended by my entrepreneur friends, I thought I will give it a try (no harm, it is FREE, right?) But guess what, I am blown away!

Evernote is an app designed for note taking, organizing, task management and archiving.  It also includes many templates that are easy to use, such as To Do List, Planner, Frequent Flyer Numbers organizer (I travel a lot so I love this!), event budget, project budget, meeting notes, gifts tracker, inspirations, checklists, habit tracker, brainstorming template etc. Super cool! Now you can easily have everything in one place and be able to find them in just a few clicks when you need them!

So there you have it! 12 free tools every entrepreneur should use! I really highly recommend them.
